New Multi-Million Dollar Extension – Microbiology Lab

Great Plains Analytical Laboratory, Inc. (GPAL) is a privately held, employee-owned, analytical and microbiology lab founded in 1993 to address a need in the food industry for high-level service and expertise with rapid turn-around times. Originally, our focus was on the milling and baking industry with specialized expertise in grain quality, cereal science, dough rheology, and baking performance. A microbiology department was added in 2002; and in 2012, GPAL moved from its original location to a much larger facility but remains based in Kansas City, MO. In 2016, we completed a multi-million-dollar expansion of the microbiology department and food safety laboratory. GPAL offers full service analytical testing using AACCI, AOAC or AOCS Official Methods covering proximate analyses, complete nutritional analyses, COA and raw ingredient verification programs, mycotoxins by HPLC and/or ELISA, minerals and vitamins, physical dough testing, bake testing, allergens (soy, gluten, peanut, tree nut, and milk) and shelf-life projects (including accelerated shelf-life testing). Great Plains also offers the full spectrum of food microbiology, packaging microbiology, water testing, environmental monitoring, and pathogen screening. All of our microbiology methods are recognized by the FDA, USDA, AOAC, while our water testing is certified by the State of Missouri.
